The Heianjo series from Zheng zhong is quality at a great price for a semi-custom sword. The handmade 1070 high carbon steel blade with bo-hi is made in a maru style and differentially tempered using a traditional claying process to produce a  cutting edge of a 58 HRC and spine of 40 HRC. The tempered hamon is enhanced and has a finer machine polish on the blade to make it prominent. The handle has real same' paneled and is double pegged for added saftey. The saya is finished in a gloos black lacquer and has a buffalo horn koiguchi (mouth) and kojiri (end cap). The fittings are antiqued finish brass with a Misudomoe mon on the fuchi and kashira while the tsuba is a historic copy of the Heianjo school work of the mitsudomoe mon. The Mitsudomoe is a representation of the three fold division (Man, Earth, & Sky) and is at the heart of the Shinto religion. Originally, it was associated with the Shinto war diety Hachiman, and through this it was adopted by the samurai as a traditional symbol and made family Ka-mon. The Heianjo is synonymous with the Yamashiro Province the original production of Heianjo sukashi tsuba was done on the orders of Ashikaga Yoshinori the 6th shogun in the ashikaga line. The inlay technique used on Heianjo-zogan tsuba had a great influence on the inlay by the Shoami, Umetada and Higo schools. Heianjo zogan is also called "Heianjo shindu suemon zogan" tsuba and are pieces which draw on the traditions of the Onin tsuba. The early works are close to Onin (early 1500), and the later extend to the begining of the Edo period.
